Catherine “Cat” Prevost was recognized as Mitchell Community College’s Student of the Month. The presentation was made by Paul Cook from Wells Fargo, one of the College’s annual sponsors.
Prevost will graduate with an A.S. degree in pre-biology in May and plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in biology education. In addition to her course work, she is a work study student in the biology department, helping in the labs and she works as a tutor in the MIND center. This semester she has been involved in ecology research, measuring the suitability of an ecosystem to sustain a population of Barred owls.
She is recognized for perseverance in pursuing her educational goals. Last semester, Prevost overcame several obstacles including losing a home and a vehicle but found ways to get to every class, lab and work assignments. She tells her two sons, “Failure is not an option!” something she demonstrates every day.
