Work-Based Learning is an academic program that integrates classroom study with practical work experience in business, education, industry, public service and community agencies. You will be given the opportunity to practice the theories and principles of your program of study in a real-world environment. For many Mitchell students, WBL provides an extra means of financial support.
The Work-Based Learning work experience occurs concurrently with academic studies, may be paid or unpaid, and awards academic credit. One credit hour equals 160 hours of work experience per semester or term. Credit is awarded based on students performance evaluations and assignments from your supervisor at work, faculty advisor and the Work-Based Learning Coordinator.
Students interested in participating must have completed all developmental/supplemental course work, have a minimum 2.0 GPA and have successfully completed at least nine semester hours of college-level work in their program of study. Work-Based Learning opportunities are available in the Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degree programs, as well as the following Associate in Applied Science programs:
Agribusiness Systems Technology
Air Conditioning, Heating, & Refrigeration Technology
General Occupation Technology
Mechanical Engineering Technology
