Transfer Student Four-Year Degree Plans (Bachelor Degree Plans; BDPS)

If you are a student planning to transfer to a 4-year college or university in North Carolina, you have excellent opportunities and resources available to aid in your endeavors. The North Carolina Community College System and the UNC System work together to encourage and support students in completing an Associate in Arts, Associate in Arts Teacher Preparation, Associate in Fine Arts, Associate in Science, Associate in Science Teacher Preparation, or Associate in Engineering degree prior to transferring to their selected university for their baccalaureate degree (aka bachelor’s degree). The Comprehensive Articulation Agreement works to that end to guide and help align students’ goals and programs of study from one institution to another. Please learn more by selecting here, as well as utilizing the information below.

Bachelor Degree Plans: One of the most helpful resources available to students planning to transfer is the bachelor degree plan (BDP). A BDP is specific to your intended major at your selected transfer university. Each UNC System university provides a large number of bachelor degree plans that inform community college transfer students on courses to take in their first two years, or approximately 60 credits of college transfer courses, to meet requirements toward their chosen degree at the university. As you explore the links below, you will be able to see the many BDPs and start matching a few of them up as potential plans toward your degree and career goals. You’ll discuss this more with your advisor at Mitchell Community College as you begin. Later, when you are preparing to transfer, you’ll include the office of transfer services at your selected university, as well as a transfer advisor at that institution, in your transfer planning. Note that there may not be an exact BDP to match your goals. If this is the case, just reach out to your transfer university to inquire about degree planning and recommendations.

Our shared goals are about your success!
