Sally Vacca's Faculty Incentive Grant to Full Frame Film Fesitival In 2012, Sally Vacca was awarded the Faculty Incentive Grant. Funds awarded from the grant were used to take students from her Videography I and II class to the Full Frame Documentary Film Festival in Durham, NC.
The film festival features award-winning documentary films from all over the world. Students were able to attend screenings for three different films, including “The Imposter,” a documentary by British filmmaker Bart Layton who was in attendance at the screening. Students participated in a Q and A with the director after the film, which helped deepen their understanding of what it takes to create a compelling film, both in terms of technical demands and story quality. By watching films they would not otherwise have seen, students broadened their ideas about how a story can be told and were able to see first hand the impact a film can have. This brought the reality of a career as a documentary filmmaker that much closer and provided inspiration for all who attended.
