Demolition begins on former Davis Hospital site

Mitchell Community College announced demolition has begun on the former Davis Hospital structure as of Tuesday, September 19. The site was inspected by the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services Health Hazard Control Unit on August 30, September 13, and September 18, 2017. The Health Hazards Control Unit noted satisfaction with the progress of Neo Corporation’s asbestos abatement work and agreed that the demolition of the project could begin. The anticipated date for a cleared site is November 2017 with construction currently scheduled to begin on Mitchell’s new Health Sciences facility in summer 2018.
