Mitchell Community College is happy to welcome Nicolas Villamizar to our campus for a brief discussion, Music in the 20th Century. He is a world renowned musician, composer, conductor and actor. Villamizar will be speaking on campus on Friday April 8, 2016 at 8:00 a.m. in Rotary Auditorium.
Biography
Nicolas Villamizar was born in Caracas, Venezuela. Villamizar studied music at the Juan Manuel Olivares Conservatory of Music in Caracas, Venezuela. He earned a degree in Engineering while in Caracas, Venezuela. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Film Scoring from Berklee College Of Music in Boston Massachusetts and his Master of Arts in Composition from New England Conservatory, also in Boston.
Villamizar founded Sounds Good Productions in 1986 and provides original music and sound design for internet, film, television, video, radio and advertising. He also provides multicultural translation, casting, voice over, interpreting and consulting services.
Villamizar has been a Music Producer and Composer of two EMMY Award winning WGBH Boston documentaries – “A Case Forgotten” and “Teens and Aids”, Director-Producer, Eduardo Aguiar and the Music Producer, Composer and a performer for the Golden Eagle Film and Video award winning documentary “My Uncle Joe”, directed and written by William Rogers, which has been broadcast nationally on the Public Broadcast System (PBS).
Villamizar received a Concert Series Award from the Berklee Performance Center, Boston. He has also worked as an actor, casting director, consultant, producer, director, voice-over artist and narrator for numerous advertising campaigns, corporate videos, radio, television and film. He has performed at the Harvard University Hasty Pudding Theater and the Boston Center for the Arts.
Villamizar taught Communication and Television Production courses as a faculty member of the North Shore Community College in Danvers and Lynn, Massachusetts in 2004 and served as Music Director for Unity Cambridge from September 2007 to June 2009.
