Poirier named Agribusiness Coordinator
Amy Poirier was recently named Coordinator of Mitchell Community College’s Agribusiness Technology program. Poirier received a bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and a master’s degree in Crop Science from North Carolina State University. Prior to coming to Mitchell, Poirier was a Regional Agronomist for the North Carolina Department of Agriculture, where she assisted producers in 11 counties in the piedmont of North Carolina. Poirier grew up on a dairy farm in Rowan County which is currently one of seven certified organic dairies in the state. She brings knowledge and expertise of both alternative and commercial agriculture to Mitchell.
