Mitchell student Susan Spaugh (left) was presented with a $1500 scholarship award by Judy Morgan, representing the local Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO). The award, called a Program for Continuing Education (PCE), is given to women who are enrolled in school, are within 12 months of graduation, have a reasonable expectation of finding employment in their field, and have had at least a 24-month break between high school and current school enrollment.
PEO is an international philanthropic educational organization for women with nearly a quarter million members in the US and Canada. Statesville’s Chapter S has 27 active members.
