Early Childhood Education Mission Statement

The Mission of the Mitchell Community College Early Childhood Education Program is to prepare individuals to work with children ages birth to 8 years old in diverse learning environments.

Students will integrate their knowledge and understanding of the needs and characteristics of young children, engage and support family and community relationships, as well as design and implement developmentally appropriate activities for children.

Students will inform practice through technology and hands on experiences with young children. Graduates will be able to observe, assess, and collect data in order to create a plan of action to individualize each child’s learning experience.
