Fifty-seven students were inducted into Mitchell Community College’s Nu Tau Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) honor society. As part of the ceremony, the organization recognized five faculty members for excellence, based on PTK’s four pillars–Leadership, Service, Fellowship, and Scholarship.
The Leadership Award was presented to Rita Taggert, communications instructor; the Service Award to Ryan Cannon, psychology instructor; the Scholarship Award to Kelly Wisdom, English instructor; and the Fellowship Award to Roxanne Newton, dean of humanities. The Phi Theta Kappa Nu Tau Most Outstanding Instructor, was presented to Mamie Houston, academic coordinator, based on her nomination in all four categories.

To be eligible for membership in the PTK honor society, a student must have a 3.5 cumulative grade point average and completed 12 credit hours.
